What is 'Just Culture' and why is SMS important?
One of the first things we learn in our pilot training is risk assessment using the IMSAFE list, and as instructors, we try to make it second nature for our students to run through IMSAFE before they come flying.

Just Culture
Just culture is based on open and honest reporting of incidents, no matter how small. It stems from our humble Club-based background; how we are all friends and want to learn from each other - the good and the not so good.
Why should you care?
If you're ever needing to report an incident, aside from our legal obligations, the SMS is the process we will take as an organisation to investigate that incident and make recommendations so the likelihood of that incident happening again is reduced.
You should care because it's important for you to know that the organisation you're a member of is committed to safety and learning.
