To continue our duty of care in flight operations and all activities run by the Wellington Aero Club, we are observing the Covid-19 ‘traffic light’ system as developed by the New Zealand Government and as outlined by the CAA.
We ask all members, visitors and users of our Club’s facilities and the hangar to be vaccinated to ensure that everyone — our flight instructors, club members and visitors are as safe as possible as they continue to guide the Club’s safe operations.
From Monday 22 November 2021 —
- all staff
- club members
- members of the public (including those taking a trial flight)
- and lessees (aircraft hangarage and sub-tenants)
— over the age of 12, will be requested to provide evidence of their individual vaccination status or provide evidence of a negative Covid-19 test result to be permitted to fly, attend instruction, or visit the premises.
Acceptable evidence includes the vaccine card you received when you got your vaccinations or a valid Ministry of Health “My Vaccine Pass” record of vaccination obtained from the My Covid Record website.
Please note: If you arrive for your Trial Flight and cannot produce a vaccination record, the Wellington Aero Club may refuse your booking — the cost of your flight will be refunded, however, a $50 admin fee will be deducted.
For us to be able to stay open across the spectrum, we will require our members to present their vaccine passes. You can either email a copy of your pass or present it to us in person at the Club.
This should hopefully only need to be done once as we will keep a record but please do not be offended if you are asked more than once, or if a staff member needs to scan your pass.
If you haven’t seen a vaccine pass yet, the only information shown to us on a scanned pass is your name and date of birth. That information is immediately deleted by the scanning app once we exit it: we do not keep a record of the data.
In regards to the vaccine pass, Wellington Aero Club will only store information about whether you've been verified or not.
As usual — don't travel if you don't feel well! — if you have a flight booked with us, help keep our instructors, members, students, pilots and passengers healthy, give us a call and we’ll happily rebook your flight or lesson.
